About MeI'm a very old young man, at least i feel that way. I'm a Bruneian (look it up.) with too much time on my hands. I do sports, music, creative writing and more often jackass activities with my brothers-in-arms (henceforth B.I.As). Currently i'm in a relationship with probably the most wonderful lady in the whole wide world (yes, Puss-In-Boots eyes), Missy 156. She's the star of my life! =) (Which is saying something, i am SeVenStaRs, no?) I'll update this when i have something to say.

Tuesday, May 17, 2005Just on a whim...Listening to Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter. I know i said i wasn't going to be posting anytime soon, but i feel like blogging. I cannot believe it took me 2 years to get to listen to this song. Hell, I never did watch 'Closer' (it was the first and last song to play in that movie) so i passed this gem of a song. This song is genious, it's unbelievable. My suggestion to you guys is, get all of the songs from Damien Rice's album, 'O'. I give this album 7 stars, the highest accolade i could ever give anything. I know, i know, i'm late in praising my hat off to the brilliance that is Damien Rice (2 years late, actually), but i don't care. All of the songs on 'O' struck a chord with me. The lyrical content of all of the songs displays a certain cynicism, a ton of world-weariness, of a guy who's tired of all the crap that comes along with living, and writes about it without the need for overelaboration. His lyrics are simple, but you could feel the sincerity of the emotions 'O' evokes in the listener. As far as musical arrangements go, 'O' is a breeze of originality. An example would be the opera singer on 'Eskimo', and the Gregorian chanting on 'Cold Water'. The accompanying vocals of Lisa Hannigan is simply haunting, and the cello, ahh, the cello of Vyvienne Long. I can't even describe how perfect it sounds. For an album which is self-produced and home-recorded, this a surefire knockout punch for me, way outstripping many other singer's/band's million dollar offerings. Yes, i am now a fan of Irish troubadour Mr. Damien Rice, to the point of near-idolatry. I'm going to start collecting his mugs and T-shirts pretty soon. Okay, enough of my newfound obsession. I'm going to post up some random pictures. ![]() ![]() This is what happens when exam stress meets boredom, plus the refusal of the brain to accept any more info. I tend to write/draw/scratch stuff on whatever surface that's convenient. ![]() This is my new Onfire Camo bag, got it for cheap. But i think it looks mighty fine. Not too much space though, but a lot of pockets! Now, some random pics i snapped up at Uni. ![]() Capoeira being performed right on the sidewalk. Capoeira's a Brazilian martial arts by the way, like Eddy from Tekken. ![]() In a building where 'No Smoking' signs are everywhere. They even provided ashtrays. Go figure. ![]() A tree outside my faculty's building. Pretty, no? Reminds me of the Japanese 'Sakura' tree. Now, some pics i snapped at eateries. ![]() Hmm. Newspaper with article on a murder which happened in a McD's, in a McD's. Curious. ![]() Poor fries. Ah well, down the hatch you go *gulp*. ![]() You know what people do in the spring & summer time? They have barbeques! ![]() Thin strips of meat marinaded in a sauce made of honey, garlic, chilli and other tasty spices, barbequed. Yum. Well, that's it from me. I'll be back when i can. Sevenstars, out. posted by SeVenStaRs @ 1:11 AM
